To promote exports and investment, customs legislation (Article 137 of the Customs Code) provides regimes allowing for import and export with derogations from general law, both regarding the collection of duties and taxes and concerning foreign trade formalities.
Storage warehouse regimes
Storage, for a determined period, of imported goods or goods purchased locally in approved premises and under customs control, with suspension of duties and taxes and prohibition measures.
Public warehouse
Articles 174 to 178 of the Customs Code (decree of 2 March 2009). Granted by decree to municipalities, chambers of commerce and industry, and companies with public participation.
Private warehouse
Articles 179 to 191 of the Customs Code. Operating authorization granted to natural or legal persons whose main or secondary profession is warehousing.
